I'm new to Kickstarter and don't really understand it. Can you give me a rundown?

Sure. We asking you to consider pre-ordering the book through this website, known as a “Kickstarter campaign.” We are doing this to raise money to pay up-front costs, including author royalties and editing. We are really hoping to get to $5000 in pledges so we can pay the authors pro rates. That helps the authors! Thank you for helping us do that - and we hope you love the book that you receive in return.

Here’s what you do: 1) Click the “reward level” to the right. If you just want a paperback copy, you’ll select “Paperback Stormcove.” 2) Check out of Kickstarter - you can do this with an account or as a guest. You need to check out to complete the pre-order.

Why is shipping so expensive?

It is! We know! Especially to Canada, which is less than 30km from here. We have done our very best to keep the shipping costs down, and sometimes that means we lose money on it. If it’s too prohibitive, we understand, and are offering digital copies as another option.

Are you accepting submissions?

We are! We’ll accept submissions in December and January. Guidlines are posted to atthisarts.com/stormcove - in the meantime please let other writers know. We are especially interested in getting to diverse writing communities, to enable a collection that represents the beautiful diversity of the writing population.

I'm a writer. What if I plan to submit a story - and I don't know if it'll be accepted?

So I’m a writer too. And here’s my honest answer to that. Back the project if you’re interested to read it, support the creative idea, and/or want to help us pay indie writers for great work, whoever those writers end up being. I didn’t make the cut for the last two anthologies I submitted to, but I still ordered them because I was excited to read the collection, whether or not they picked my obviously superior story, and wanted to support the efforts of great small presses. And if you do have a story selected, then we’ll give you the opportunity to order additional copies at that point. I truly appreciate writers, and I appreciate you giving our collection a look.

I paid shipping but wasn't asked for an address. How will you get my address?

That’s right - if the campaign is successful, then we’ll send out a BackerKit survey (a final checkout link), which will confirm your shipping address. We’ll let you know when that is going to be sent out. And don’t worry; if you miss it, we’ll send you a note.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
